One of the biggest advantages of the Gravit Designer is simplicity — a sleek and easy to navigate interface helps you to swing into action immediately after downloading the app for the first time.
If you are a newbie in the world of graphics, this tutorial is for you. It will familiarize you with the app itself and with the design process in general. In this tutorial, I am not using the Pen Tool designing everything with Ellipse Tool and boolean shape operators. If you are a more seasoned representative of graphic world species, on this page you will find some color codes and dimensions to assist you in the creation of the smiley face.
Smiley Body
Grab the Ellipse Tool (E) and holding Shift
and Alt/Opt
to draw a circle with a diameter of 400px. Head over to the fill and select a Linear Gradient option from the drop-down arranging the colors as shown in the picture.
You can copy-paste these colors:
#FFEA70
#E27C04
Smiley Eyes
Draw a 180x240px ellipse with the Ellipse Tool (E). Navigate to the fill and select the Radial Gradient option from the drop-down. This time we need to arrange three colors:
#EBEBEB
#E9EAEA
#BDD5DE
Make a duplicate with the Ctrl+D
shortcut and scale it down to 120×170 px to create a left eye.
Pupil
Draw another ellipse with the size of 50x80px. Make it brown (#420102
).
Make a duplicate, scale it down, and position in the top-right of the original ellipse.
Head over to the Boolean shape operator menu and select the Subtract command.
Smiley Mouth and Chin
Create another ellipse with the size of 110x65px. Set the following colors for the fill and stroke:
- Fill:
#6B0001
- Stroke: 1px solid
#FFFFFF
with the Soft light as a Blending Mode
Chin
Create an ellipse with a size of 90x50px. Place it underneath the mouth.
Head over to the Fill and select the Linear Gradient from the dropdown. Arrange the colors as shown in the picture below.
Pay attention: the gradient stops in the center and on the right are transparent (A=0%)
Eyes Shadows
Create an ellipse with the 170x80px size. Place it underneath the eye using a shortcut Ctrl/Cmd+↓
set a radial gradient for the fill. Arrange the colors as shown in the picture.
Keep the shape selected and Convert it to a path in order to make adjustments to the anchor points with the Subselect Tool(D).
Reduce the opacity to 50% and make a duplicate to the left eye.
We are done. The icing on the cake is eyebrows, to add them to watch my youtube video and follow my channel. Have an amazing day!
